[edit]oldstyle (plural oldstyles)
- (typography, often attributive) A traditional style of typeface designed to mimic the handwriting of scribes.
- 2005, Pete Masterson, Book Design and Production: A Guide for Authors and Publishers:
- Books aimed at older and possibly vision impaired readers may have more difficulty with the generally lighter appearing transitional typefaces than they might with an oldstyle typeface.
- 2014, Timothy Samara, Design Elements, 2nd Edition:
- A sentence set in an oldstyle serif and a similar-weight sans serif at the same point size will appear to be two different sizes.
