Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Spanish octava, from Latin octāvus (“eighth”). As for the sense of "postponement", according to Panganiban (1973), at least two old folk informers affirm that during their younger years, a postponement in utaba meant "the same day next week" which would be the eighth day.
