[edit]Borrowed from Dutch ochlocratie (“ochlocracy, mobocracy”), from French ochlocratie (“ochlocracy, mobocracy”), from Middle French ochlocratie, from Ancient Greek ὀχλοκρατία (okhlokratía), from ὄχλος (ókhlos, “multitude, crowd”) + κράτος (krátos, “power”).
