[edit]Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic облѫкъ (oblǫkŭ), from об- (ob-) + лѫкъ (lǫkŭ, “bow”), from Proto-Slavic *lǫkъ. Compare Aromanian ublãncu, blãncu, cf. Slovene oblúk.
