Etymology

From Proto-Inuit *nuanniʁ- (“enjoy oneself, pleasant, enjoyable”), from Proto-Eskimo *nuna- (“to enjoy oneself”). Compare nuannerpoq (“is nice”), and nuannaarpoq (“is pleased, enjoys oneself”).

   • 1992, “Meeqqakka”, in Atuagagdliutit/Grønlandsposten:

     Angajulleq nukarlerlu takuneq ajorpakka, taamaatttummi^{[sic – meaning taamaattummi]} nuannarisarinngilluinnarakkit.

     Seeing the oldest and the youngest, I cannot manage, because I do not like them at all.
