From Proto-Hmong-Mien *ntshuH (“to wash laundry, launder”).^[1]

Particularly: “Bears resemblance to certain Chinese words for rubbing and scrubbing, like 搓 (cuō, “to rub between hands”) and 擦 (cā, “to wipe”).”
