Etymology

From Proto-Hmong *mblɔŋᴬ (leaf). Probably cognate with Proto-Mien *nɔmᴬ (id); compare also Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *buluŋ (medicinal herbs) (whence Pangasinan bulong (leaf)), as well as Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s-lap (leaf).[1][2]
