- (zoology) In Latreille's system, a brachyurous decapod crustacean, such as a crab of the genera Homola, Dorippe, Dromia, Dynomene, Ranina.
- 1935, John Roxborough Norman, Coast Fishes: South Atlantic:
- The notopods begin on the second or third segment and the neuropods are very variable in their segment of origin, being sometimes altogether absent from the anterior region.
- (entomology) An elaterid; a click beetle.
