no-jump (plural no-jumps)

  1. An attempted long jump or triple jump that is disqualified for breaking a rule.
    • 2002, John Kerr, Counselling Athletes: Applying Reversal Theory, page 72:
Unfortunately, by waiting as long as possible each time before jumping, he lost concentration and then, because of overstriding over the first part of the approach run, he made three no-jumps.
    • 2004, Andy Sibson, John Taylor, Sport Examined Entry Level Teacher Support Pack:
If a long jumper or triple jumper crosses the take-off board on or before take-off, it is a no-jump. Triple jumpers must 'hop, step, jump'. Other actions are a no-jump.
