- (computing, Microsoft Windows) The part of a UNC (Uniform Naming Convention) path that identifies a particular resource on a given server.

- A UNC (universal naming convention) name consists of a server name and a netname, which together identify a resource in the domain.
- 2002, Dave Roth, Win32 Perl Programming: The Standard Extensions, page 58:
- If a sharepoint is accessed by using the UNC \\server1\WordFiles, for example, the netname is WordFiles.
