[edit]From Ottoman Turkish نغمه, from Arabic نَغْمة (naḡma, “melody, tone, sound”), from Aramaic ܢܥܡܬܐ (nāˁamtā, “melody, sweet and soft voice”), from Hebrew נעם (nāˁam, “sweet singing”).
