Etymology
[edit]The forms Ripuarian nühs, Moselle Franconian neihst (also Luxembourgish näischt) can be traced back to older *niust of somewhat obscure origin, but eventually probably from Old High German niowiht, whence also net (“not”) and German nicht, nichts.
