[edit]From muuɗ- + -de. Ultimately from Proto-Fula-Serer *muɗ (to eat something starchy), whence also Serer muɗ (“to eat something starchy”). Likely also related to Proto-Fula-Serer *mʊd/ɗ (to swallow)[1]
