[edit]Borrowed from Lombard mondeghin (plural mondeghitt), a variant of mondeghili, from Spanish albondiguillo or albondiguito, diminutive form of albóndiga (“meatball”), from Arabic البُنْدُقة (al-bunduqa, literally “the hazelnut”), possibly through Catalan mondonguilla.
