[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish مقطوعا (maktuan), derived from Arabic مَقْطُوعًا (maqṭūʕan), adverbial accusative of مَقْطُوع (maqṭūʕ). By surface analysis, maktu + an (adverbial suffix).
