- Alternative form of mihaffa.
- 1877, D. B. Allen et al., “A Statistical Account of Bengal”, in Districts of Gayá and Sháhábád, volume 12, page 82:
- The maháfah is a big closed dhulí, used chiefly at marriage ceremonies, and by rich women when travelling.
- 2001, Islam and the Modern Age, volume 32, page 24:
- There are three objections: you ride in a Mahafah, like the king; second you sit on the same throne; and third, you did not offer anything to the king. These are acts of disrespect to the king and against the decorum of the court.
