- A relatively large thrombus.
- Antonym: microthrombus

- Diffuse pulmonary macrothrombi (including any clot or thrombus in arteries with a lumen >1 mm) are found frequently, and are present in the early, intermediate, and late stage of ARDS, although in the late stage they are fewer.
