Etymology

Aphetic form of earlier ymachludd, from Middle Welsh ymachluð. By surface analysis, ym- (self) +‎ achludd (to hide), which is from Middle Welsh achluð, from Proto-Brythonic *axlʉð, from Latin occlūdō (cover up).
