[edit]From Ottoman Turkish متفقاً (müttefikan), adverbial accusative of Arabic مُتَّفِق (muttafiq), active participle of اِتَّفَقَ (ittafaqa, “to come to agreement”), by surface analysis, müttefik + -en.
