[edit]Probably from Gothic *𐌼𐌿𐍂𐌷𐍅𐌰𐌻𐌿𐍃 (*murhwalus), a reconstructed compound of Proto-Germanic *murhǭ (“wild carrot”) and *waluz (“staff”).
