Inherited from Old Spanish [Term?], from Late Latin lūmināria (compare Galician lumieira, Catalan llumenera (oil lamp, luminary), French lumière (light), Romanian lumânare (candle)), plural of lūmināre (light, lamp, luminary), based on Latin lūmen (light). Doublet of the borrowing luminaria.
