lingual nerve (plural lingual nerves)

  1. (neuroanatomy, zootomy) A sensory branch of the mandibular nerve that supplies the mucous membrane of the anterior two thirds of the tongue and the floor of the mouth and responds to stimuli of pressure, touch, and temperature.
