limbidium (plural limbidia)

  1. (bryology) A differentiated margin of the leaf of a moss.
    • 2020, Afroz Alam, Contemporary Research on Bryophytes, page 165:
      The leaf margin, which consists of a band of uni-stratose to pluri-stratose, hyaline-yellowish, prosenchymatous, stereid cells is called limbidium. In some species, the limbidium can be well developed in all three laminae.
