liikelaitos

  1. An unincorporated business entity which is owned by state or one or more municipal governments. Liikelaitos is expected to be financially self-sustaining, and sometimes to earn a profit for the owners. They exist e.g. in water and electricity supply, harbour and railway operation. The English translations in use include "unincorporated state enterprise", "unincorporated municipal enterprise" and "authority".
