lhostejný
Appearance
Czech
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Czech lhostajný (“carefree, unworried”) with semantic shift.
Pronunciation
[edit]Adjective
[edit]lhostejný (comparative lhostejnější, superlative nejlhostejnější, adverb lhostejně or lhostejno)
- indifferent (not caring)
Usage notes
[edit]When used with a subject, the subject takes the place of the English object and vice versa, so that for example "I am indifferent to mathematics" translates as "matematika je mi lhostejná", literally "mathematics is to me indifferent".
