lawn bubble (plural lawn bubbles)

  1. A phenomenon that occurs after heavy rains, where rainwater flows under a lawn's thatched grass root and rhizome layer, but is unable to drain further due to saturated soil underneath, creating a muddy water-filled cavity between the grass and the underlying dirt.
