Etymology

From lang (long) +‎ bein (leg), compare Old Norse langabein and southern Swedish långben (crane fly). Literally, long leg, same etymology as for Langbein (Goofy) and Swedish Långben (Goofy).

May be confused with langbeinedderkopp (spider of Pholcidae family) and kongro (usually a short-legged spider).
