[edit]From labiale (“labial”) + -izzare, from Medieval Latin labiālis (“of the lips”), derived from Latin labium (“lip”), from the Proto-Indo-European root *leb- (“to hang loosely”). By surface analysis, labial(e) (“labial”) + -izzare (“-ize”, verbal derivational suffix).
