[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from a South Slavic language, ultimately derived from Proto-Slavic *lędina (“untilled land”); compare Serbo-Croatian lèdina, Bulgarian леди́на (ledína).[1][2][3][4] Alternatively connected to lëndë, although seemingly unlikely, or perhaps directly from Proto-Indo-European *lendʰ-.
