Cognate with Northern Sami ladju, Southern Sami plęjjǫ, Ume Sami blijo, Pite Sami blīja, Inari Sami lajo, and Ter Sami лa̭i̭ja. Could possibly be from Proto-Finno-Samic (compare with Finnish lyijy).
