kvardag
Appearance
Norwegian Nynorsk
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From kvar (“every”) + dag (“day”). Semantic shift of uncertain origin. Probably, from the original meaning "every day which is not a holy day". Plausibly under the influence of similar-sounding German "Werktag". Cognate with Swedish vardag and Danish hverdag, both with the same meaning.
