Tat
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Middle Persian kpwt' (kabōd, “blue-gray; pigeon”), from Old Persian 𐎣𐎱𐎢𐎫𐎣 (k-p-u-t-k /kapautaka/), from Proto-Iranian *kapawtakáh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kapawtakás, from *kapáwtas (“grey-blue”). Cognate with Sanskrit कपोतक (kapotaka, “pigeon-coloured”), Old Armenian կապուտակ (kaputak) (an Iranian borrowing).
