Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Nuclear Polynesian *kopi-ti (“to be narrow”). Cognates include Hawaiian ʻōpiki (“trap”) and Maori kopiti (“to be closed”).

Usage notes
[edit]- Kopiti is only used to refer to the inner part of a corner, e.g. of a building or room. For the outer part of a corner, the term tulimanu is used.
