[edit]knalla (present knallar, preterite knallade, supine knallat, imperative knalla)
- (colloquial) to walk, to trot
- Synonym: knata
- Dags att knalla hem
- Time to go home
- Hon knallade iväg
- He trotted off
- 1991, Per Persson (lyrics and music), “Tusen dagar härifrån [A thousand days away from here]”, in Äkta hjärtan [True hearts][1], performed by Perssons Pack ft. Jakob Hellman:
- I ett helt annat land har vintern börjat komma, och dagarna på stranden känns som hundra år sen när ett regn tar sig ner på insidan av kragen, och stövlarna hon köpte i morse är förstörda, där hon knallar samma gata upp och ner. Under skraporna försöker hon att le. Men när längtan blir till gråt, ber hon klockan skynda på. Snälla, ta mig tusen dagar härifrån.
- In a completely different country, winter has started to arrive, and the days at the beach feel like a hundred years ago when a rain[sic] gets down ["takes itself down" – manages to get down] [on] the inside of her collar, and the boots she bought this morning are ruined, (there) where she walks up and down the same street. Beneath the skyscrapers [scrapers] she tries to smile. But when longing turns to tears [crying], she begs the clock to hurry up. Please, take me a thousand days away from here.
- to (cause to) make short, sharp bangs
Usage notes
[edit]The references say slowly, though this might not match the intuition of many native speakers, being more of a colloquial word for walking in general.
