Cognate with Unami kimuxwe (he walks quietly, stealthily), from Proto-Eastern Algonquian *kīmwoxwēw, from Proto-Algonquian *ki·mwohθe·wa, from *ki·mi·- (secretly) +‎ *wohθe·wa (to walk). Related to kiimíikwsuw (to sneak around crawling), kíimii- (secretly).
