From French and English karst, German Karst, Russian карст (karst). All of these forms are from Proto-Slavic *korsъ, from Italo-Dalmatian carsus (compare Italian carso), of Illyrian origin, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *ker- or *karra- (hard; rock)[1]
