[edit]From Proto-Semai *kalooʔ, from Proto-Aslian [Term?], from Proto-Mon-Khmer *kl(o)ʔ (“shellfish; snail”). Cognate with Mon ကၞု, Pacoh klɔɔ, Khmu klɔ́ʔ, Chong klɔ̂ː.
