[edit]Inherited from Old Polish kłomia, further etymology uncertain.
- Possibly from the same root as kłam,[1] however Sławski directly refutes this.
- Possibly inherited from Proto-Slavic *kolm-, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱolh₂mos, confer Latin culmus.[2][3]
- Possibly borrowed from Gothic 𐌷𐌻𐌰𐌼𐌼𐌰 (hlamma), from Proto-Germanic *hlammiz.[3]
