[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قصاص (ḳıṣaṣ, ḳaṣaṣ, “the application of the law of talion, putting a man to death for manslaughter”),[1] from Arabic قِصَاص (qiṣāṣ), verbal noun of قَاصَّ (qāṣṣa).[2]
