[edit]From kũrura (“to be green”).[1]
Hinde (1904) records kirruru as an equivalent of English shadow in “Jogowini dialect” of Kikuyu, listing also Kamba kyu as its equivalent.[2]
Pronunciation
[edit]- As for Tonal Class, Benson (1964) classifies this term into Class 10 with a trisyllabic stem, together with gĩting'ũri, ndigithũ, kĩĩgunyĩ, and so on.
