Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Slavic *kotьlъ, from Gothic 𐌺𐌰𐍄𐌹𐌻𐍃 (katils, “kettle”), from Latin catillus. Cognate with Upper Sorbian kotoł, Polish kocioł, Czech kotel, Russian котёл (kotjól), Old Church Slavonic котьлъ (kotĭlŭ).
