jacket up (third-person singular simple present jackets up, present participle jacketing up, simple past and past participle jacketed up)

  1. (transitive, dated) To criticize or scold (someone).
    I prefer to jacket up workers in private.
  2. (intransitive) To put on a jacket, typically one needed for an activity (such as a life jacket or a hi-viz vest).
  3. (transitive) To lift (something) using a jack.
