1. (organic chemistry) A flavonoid, C₁₆H₁₂O₄, that is a minor component of the heartwood of Dalbergia sissoo, used in Chinese medicine.
   • 1991, Annual Report, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, page 180:

     Seven compounds, namely, dalbergin, isodalbergin, dalbergiquinone, dalbergiphenol, methyl dalbergin and melannein and a new ester of dalbergiphenol with higher fatty acid were isolated from the heartwood of Dalbergia sissoo.
