- (organic chemistry) Any isomer of caproaldehyde, but especially 2-methylpentanal which is produced by the enzymatic cleavage of cholesterol.

- Incubation of bovine preparation 3 with 4,5-3H-isocaproaldehyde led to the formation of isohexyl alcohol and of isocaproic acid, while a similar incubation of the human preparation led primarily to the formation of isohexyl alcohol (Table VI).
