Etymology

[edit]

in +‎ flicka (to mend, to repair), used since 1636, cognate with German einflicken

Verb

[edit]

inflika (present inflikar, preterite inflikade, supine inflikat, imperative inflika)

  1. to interject, to put in (a remark in a discussion)
Låt mig inflika att detta skedde på natten
Let me put in that this happened during the night

Usage notes

[edit]
  • SAOL lists both -k- and -ck- spellings. The -k- spelling (and pronunciation) is by far the most common today, but -ck- explains the etymology, which has everything to do with amending, and nothing with a flik (flap).
