From French imprimerie, from imprimer (“to print, to imprint”) + -erie (“-ery”), from im- (“in-”) + primer (“to print”). Equivalent to imprint +‎ -ery.

   France's National Imprimery dates back to the Renaissance but now mostly prints ID cards.

3. (countable, obsolete) Synonym of print, a single instance of printing.
