[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish احسان (iḥsān, “a being good or beautiful, an acting well, doing one's duty well towards God, an acting kindly”),[1][2] from Arabic إِحْسَان (ʔiḥsān), verbal noun of أَحْسَنَ (ʔaḥsana, “to do or act well, to do or act right”).[3]
