[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اجرا (icra, “letting water flow, letting an event take its course, putting a law into execution, implementation, practicing, performing, working”),[1] from Arabic إِجْرَاء (ʔijrāʔ, “procedure, work, deed”).
