- One who studies hydraulics.
- 1892, Cassier's Magazine, volume 2, page 262:
- The hydraulic engineer is called in France a hydraulician. To the writer's knowledge there has been only one American professional hydraulic engineer who hung out the sign “hydraulician,” and that was a young Philadelphian who had been educated in one of the best French engineering colleges; but he hauled in the sign when he found that people did not know what it meant.
