hip-pocket client (plural hip-pocket clients)

1. (entertainment industry) A person who is being provisionally represented by an agent but is not yet signed by the agency.

     As a hip-pocket client, you'll receive a short burst of attention and your script will probably be sent out to a few places. If the script doesn't generate heat, the agency will quickly write you off.
